Synopsis: Drama based on a true story. Philomena, an elderly Irish Catholic woman decides to find her son more than fifty years after she was forced, as an unmarried mother, to give him up for adoption. Following a chance encounter at a friend’s party, Martin Sixsmith, a former BBC journalist, agrees to meet Philomena to hear her story and together they embark on a journey that takes them from a convent in rural Ireland to Washington DC.
